Lots of small observations

Morning. Lots of little small things before I begin the mountain of laundry that needs to be complete today.

First and most important, Merideth has a job. She is teaching 10th grade at Travis High School. Hurray and Huzzah!

Second, a comment I have been meaning to blog about for a while. I personally damn the person who created the Escher-like layout of Texas State/Southwest Texas campus. I know I am not in the best of shape, but uphill in every direction is enough to give me a heart attack.

Third, in political news. The New York Post (never a reliable paper, but still) is reporting the first hints of something I have predicted since Dean began looking seriously at DNC chair. Tipper is telling people that Gore may run in 2008. I would like to state now that I am all for a Gore run and would actively work for his campaign. Should Dean win the DNC race, Gore will have a very strong relationship with the head of the DNC, which is important in rallying the troops behind you.

Movie Watching with Merlin

I don't post enough about my kids and the very, very odd things they do, but this couple I could not resist.

First, my son opened a Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit Game. Inside, they found a copy of The One Ring. Merlin proceeded to take the ring, wear it on her thumb and start yelling, "The Ring is Mine, mine, MINE!" I asked if I could see it and she told me no, as it was her Precious. She then gave me a quick impersonation of Gollum's grin and then bolted from the room.

Later, we were watching Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. It is a dreadful film, but Merlin wanted to watch it, so we watched it. The first scene is Lara betting up on a Robot in her house. Merli began rooting for the robot, which I take as a very good sign. The next scene is a very long shot of Lara taking a shower. Gavin pipped up, "Why is she taking a shower?" Feeling uncomfortable with the answer, I paused, during witch time Merlin said, "She just fought a robot and slid all over the floor. That makes you dirty. "

Yes, Merlin, yes it does.

I am disappointed in Myself

There is this Best of the Blogs 2004 award thing online, and I noticed that one of the catergories is Best Humerous Blog.

I feel ashamed I did not spearhead a movement to get Adam on this list, especially as the 10th ranking blog only got 19 votes, which I am sure we could best.

In my defense, I just did not know about the damn awards thing.

But next year, nest year, we shall run a campaign to make Miramax envious...
